CHURCH CHOIR
THEME:”Celebrating our Heritage Building on the Foundation Already Laid, Singing the Faith of our Fathers”(1Corinthians 3:11-12, 2 Timothy 1:5, PHB 282)
The Trinity Presbyterian Church Choir started in 1994 when the London Presbyterian Church at the time was divided into two Churches namely Ghanamma now ( Annoited Congregation) and the London Congregation (which is now Trinity Presbyterian Church Of Ghana). The London Congregation Church Choir (Trinity) was formed to lead the congregation in hymns singing and learning to sing anthems at the place of worship and meetings at the Christ Church and Upton Chapel, Kennington opposite the Lambert North Tube Station, London. Some of the choir meetings/rehearsals were sometimes held in the houses of some dedicated members with the Late Mr. Alex Anim-Annor as Choirmaster/President. In 1995, Rev. Derrek Sena Dzandu- Hedidor inaugurated the London Congregation Church Choir (Trinity) with new robes and had Mrs. Agnes Oko Ephraim as President and Mr. Micheal Awude Kwadwo as Secretary. However, both the London Congregation and the Church Choir went through various stages of transformation from Christ Church and Upton Chapel through St.Peter’s Church, Wickham Road, Brockley to South Lee Christian Centre, Baring Road, where we currently worship. This transformation also brought about changes in leadership such as Choirmasters: Mr. Alex Amin-Annor (Late) Mr Alwyn Fleischer Djoleto, the late Mr. Kwame Atta Dzigbodi, Mr. Seth Annor Antwi, Prof. Sam Ekow Arthur and Mr. Isaac Owusu Antwi, who currently is the Choirmaster and music director. Presidents: Sis. Agnes Oko Ephraim, Sis. Betty Acheampong Ramsey, Sis. Comfort Ofosuhene Ofei, Bro. Eric Kwame Nkansah and currently Bro. Francis Kofi Katey. Secretaries: Bro. Micheal Awude Kwadwo, (Late) Sis. Comfort Ofosuhene Ofei, Sis. Wilhemina Ansong- Katey, Bro. Kweku Annang, and Bro. Francis Kofi Katey and currently sister Kate Quainoo as Assistant secretary. Treasure: Sis. Edith Koboah, Sis. Rejoice Amekudzie, Sis. Felicia Amoakwah. We do have in our midst some of the surviving Choristers who have been with the choir since its formation. These members are: Sis. Felicia Amoakwah, Sis. Grace Boafo, Sis. Dora Okyere who Mrs Charity Kyei (Patroness) and others including Dr. and Nana Akuffo, Dr. Isreal Nartey, Dr. Felicia Otuteye, Mrs. Juliana Obeng Donkor, Mrs. Doris Owusu, Mr. and Mrs. David Ofori, Madam Alice Amo Amobea , and others. We thank you all for being there for us and God richly bless you all . LEADERSHIP (CURRENT) The Choir is under the leadership of; President: Bro. Francis Kofi Katey Vice President: Sis. Evelyn Osei – Tsum Secretary: Sis. Belinda Ahenkrah Kumi Assistant Secretary: Sis. Kate Quainoo Financial Secretary: Sis. Grace Boafo Treasurer: Sis. Felicia Amoakwah Organiser: Sis. Joyce Larbi-Tawiah Custodian: Sis. Mary Tanor Choir Mother: Sis. Monica Arthur Choir Master: Bro. Issac Owusu Antwi IPP: Bro. Eric Kwame Nkansah. NUMERICAL STRENGTH (MEMBERSHIP): Members totalling thirty (30) forms the church choir of which twenty seven (27)are regular members. Which consist of 7males and 19 females. The choir continue to run announcements requesting members to join the choir to increase membership especially male and the youth singers in the church. CONCLUSION: We are thankful to the Lord Almighty for his grace and mercy and for seeing the church choir through to now. May his name be praised both now and always.
